Q: When is the Chicago Luxury Home Tour?
A: September 11-13, 18-20 & 25-27, 2009 • Fridays: Noon-7pm • Saturdays and Sundays: 11am-6pm
Q: Is there a charge to go on the Chicago Luxury Home Tour?
A: Yes. Passport tickets are $15 when purchased at Chicago area Caribou Coffee locations starting on August 1 or $20 if purchased at the homes. Each passport allows one-time admittance into all homes anytime during the three weekends. Tickets for single homes are available at the homes for $5 per home.
Q: What forms of payment are accepted?
A: Credit card and cash payments at Caribou Coffee. Cash and checks will be accepted for tickets purchased at the homes. No bills larger than $20 will be accepted at the homes.
Q: Does my child need a ticket?
A: Children five and older will need a ticket. All children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Q: Who does the Chicago Luxury Home Tour benefit?
A: American Public Media.
Q: Where are the homes located?
A: Downers Grove, Geneva, Highland Park, Lake Forest, Naperville, Northfield, Oswego, Spring Grove, St. Charles, Winnetka and Delavan, WI.
Q: How should I plan my route?
A: This is a self-guided tour. Please travel the route at your leisure and visit the homes in any order you wish. Although the stops are numbered, you do not have to visit them in that order.
Q: Are shoes allowed in the homes?
A: No. For your comfort and the protection of the tour homes, you will be required to bring stockings or wear booties while inside the homes. A limited number of booties will be available upon request (booties should not be placed over your shoes, instead they should be placed directly over your feet). Bare feet are also not allowed in the homes. You will a be issued a bag to place your shoes into that you will carry with you while in the homes. In most homes you will enter through the front door and exit through the garage.
PLEASE CONSERVE WASTE BY REUSING YOUR BAG AND BOOTIES AS YOU TRAVEL FROM HOME TO HOME.
Q: What happens if it rains?
A: The Chicago Luxury Home Tour will be held rain or shine. You can leave your umbrella in the garages as you go through the homes. Remember, you have nine days to visit the homes.
Q: Are public restrooms available at the homes?
A: No.
Q: If I see something in a home that I like, how can I get more information?
A: The builder will be happy to answer your questions. In addition, literature for many of the event sponsors will be available in the garage area.
Q: Where should I park?
A: Street parking is available at many of the homes (please be respectful of neighbors and do not park in areas designated as no parking). Some homes are providing shuttle transportation from parking lot areas.
Q: Can I take photographs inside the homes?
A: Cameras are not allowed in the homes. Photographs of all the homes will be posted on this website after the Tour.
Q: What else should I know about the Chicago Luxury Home Tour?
A: Food, beverages, strollers, photography, and smoking are prohibited inside the homes. Bring address labels or business cards for quick registration of prizes.
Q: Can I bring my pet on the Home Tour?
A: With the exception of assistance animals, pets are not allowed in the tour homes.
Q: What else can I do between stops?
A: We recommend that you take a break at Caribou Coffee. Inside each Passport ticket is a special Caribou Coffee coupon.
Q: What is your refund policy?
A: All sales are final. We do not offer refunds.
